ATSC Chair Election Procedure:

  1. The ATSC chair serves a 2-year term, but may be re-elected for multiple terms.
  2. The ATSC chair is recommended by election of voting members of ATSC.

  5. The election procedure consists of:
    1. Nominations of candidates by ATSC voting members. Candidates must be core ATSC professors. Self-nominations are encouraged.
    2. Opportunity for candidates to make, zoom, or email a statement about their platform, and for further discussion or meetings if desired.
    3. Secret ballot, including absentee ballots, counted by EOAS Head's secretary. Elections will be closed only after all voting members who wanted to vote have turned in their ballot or otherwise indicated their vote to the EOAS head, within a reasonable length of time (week or two, as will be specified when voting opens).
    4. Winner is the person with 2 votes more than any other candidate.
    5. If the voting yields no winner by criterion (5d), then the candidate with least votes is eliminated from the ballot, except when only 2 candidates remain. Go to (5b) and repeat until winner is identified.
  6. The new chair, upon approval by EOAS and GEOG heads, begins office in summer (sometime within June through August) the year of the election.
